Take THAT, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer!
Arizona has NOT impressed us with their policies lately, but we’ll admit this is a step in the right direction…sort of.
Even though they’re being forced to do it, Arizona will continue to provide health-care benefits to same-sex partners of individuals who work for the government.
The ruling was announced today by Arizona’s 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which “upheld an injunction that blocked a 2009 state law from taking effect,” that “would have eliminated health-insurance coverage for the same-sex partners of state workers.”
The law was originally proposed by Gov. Jan Brewer, whom we are totally disgusted by!
Let’s just hope that this doesn’t get overturned at any point. The idea that these hard-working government employees could lose health benefits for their loved ones JUST because of their sexual orientation is sickening to us!
