Forgive the slang. We’re just trying to speak her language.
There is a woman in Massachusetts, Stacy Trasancos, who has seven children, a degree in scientific study and a severe case of “agorahomophobia.” That is, a fear of gays in public places. We’re going to let that sink in for just a tick.
Alright, and we’re back. So, Stacy here took to her blog to write a rather disturbing, albeit somewhat misguided post about her run-in with “the gays” of her community at her local pool. The post is making the rounds on the Internet, so we thought we’d share some of her “insight” with you here. Stacy writes:
“I find myself unable to even leave the house anymore without worrying about what in tarnation we are going to encounter. We are responsible citizens. We live by the rules, we pay our taxes, we take care of our things. I’m supposed to be able to influence what goes on in my community, and as a voter I do exercise that right. But I’m outnumbered. I can’t even go to normal places without having to sit silently and tolerate immorality. We all know what would happen if I asked two men or two women to stop displaying, right in front of me and my children, that they live in sodomy.”
Sure, we know what would happen. They would say to you what we’re going to say right now: PUH-LEASE!!!
First of all, we should clarify that the blasphemously inappropriate behavior she is referring to is watching two men “elbow-rubbing” and another lesbian couple hugging in a way that was “clearly not friendly.” Such horrors for the eyes to behold!
Second of all, if your delicate eyes are so affronted by the sight of love, loyalty and pureness of heart, than you’re better off staying home. The world doesn’t need such misplaced hatred walking the streets. In fact, we wish all homophobes would follow her example. If you don’t like what you see, you’re house has cable. Settle into your couch and see ya never.
But finally, what we would really like to say to this woman is this: There is some statistic out there that says one out of ten people are gay. You’ve got how many kids again? You do the math and then think about what it would be like if someone said such awful things about your child and the simple life of understanding and compassion he/she wanted to lead.
Have a real think on that one, Stacy.
