First of all, its shocking to hear Patrick Dempsey talk about the show at all, much less talk about it’s future on the network. But more so, we’re kind of delighted to hear him be a little coy about it, rather than downright desperate to get out of there!
Over the weekend, Patrick took his family to see the new Cirque Du Soleil show Iris in Hollywood, and grcaiously, he took a few moments out to talk about the future of Grey’s Anatomy. When asked if he thought this would be the show’s last season, he explained:
├óΓé¼┼ôI don├óΓé¼Γäót know! No one has talked about it from ABC. I think they├óΓé¼Γäóre waiting to launch all their shows to see where the new ones end up; it├óΓé¼Γäós a big night for them tonight. So we├óΓé¼Γäóll see, I think it├óΓé¼Γäós yet to be determined for everybody and for the network to see what├óΓé¼Γäós working and what isn’t”
That … tell us nothing.
It would be a really hefty blow to the network to lose Grey’s the same year that they lose Desperate Housewives. Those shows started together. They were the cornerstones of the ABC lineup. It would certainly be an end to an era.
But at least they still have Modern Family!
