Robin!
Obviously, a lot! Since, you know, she’s knocked up and all!
We don’t want to give too much away, but the next episode of How I Met Your Mother is gonna be a doozy, if you ask the cast an creators. It picks up moments after Robin has told Barney that she is pregnant and the hell that breaks lose from there.
The tagline for the episode teases that there is some “bad news” ahead for Robin, but what that news is, no one will say. Co-creator/co-executive producer Craig Thomas would only share:
“It’s one of those where while we’re shooting it and editing it that you see people tearing up. It’s very funny, but it’s very emotional too. The very end of the episode seems like it’s made a lot of people cry, but it’s a good cry.”
Yikes! Crying? We don’t like the sound of that!
So how exactly does everything unfold? Well, we’re told that it takes some time before Robin shared the news with the rest of the gang. The paternity of the child will be revealed in the first few minutes of the show and while Robin has made it clear she doesn’t want kids in the past, there is no discussion of getting an abortion. And then, Craig says this:
“All I can say is she gets this huge piece of news and there are more revelations in the episode that are definitely things that she would want to talk about with a friend, but she just can’t quite bring herself to. The episode becomes an exploration of Robin as a character and what happens when you keep stuff inside instead of telling your friends. I think Cobie Smulders deserves an Emmy for this episode. She’s really, really fantastic in it.”
Cool! We like when shows go a little bit deeper than their norm. Explore new territory. Yadda yadda yadda.
But could the bad news be something along the lines of Robin getting really drunk and sleeping withTed so she turns out to be the father of this baby, thus being the allusive mother that we have been so desperately waiting to meet???
No? UGH, FINE!
