Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close Is The Worst Reviewed Movie In 10 Years To Be Nominated For Best Picture

Extremly Loud Incredibly Close
The Oscars aren’t for another month, but Best Picture nominee Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close has already beat out every other film nominated in the same category in a much less appealing one — the worst reviewed movie in the last 10 years to be nominated for an Oscar!
Rotten Tomatoes, an internet database that keeps track of movie reviews for every movie released since 1999, gives the nominee a 47% ROTTEN rating! 57 critics gave the Stephen Daldry flick a positive review, but 64 weren’t as kind.
To give you an idea of what some negative nancies said about it, here a couple quick quotes we found from the rotten reviews:

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is the kind of movie you want to punch in the nose.”
“Stephen Daldry’s extremely labored and incredibly crass adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer‘s novel.”
“Half the time you sit there wondering, what sort of mother lets her bereft 11-year-old wander New York City alone or in the company of an elderly stranger?”

Since we haven’t seen it yet, we can’t pass judgement. But then again, only 67% of Rotten Tomato users liked it, so there must be some truth to what 64 unsatisfied critics are saying.
We’re sure it’s actually a decent movie that will make us cry our eyes out, but our question is…does it truly deserve an Oscar nod? And why the hell wasn’t Drive nominated with 93% of critics giving it a favorable review!?
We’d be mad at Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for taking Drive‘s spot on the list, BUT we can’t hold the film accountable because there still IS a spot for Ryan Gosling‘s starring vehicle to take its rightful place since the stupid Academy only nominated 9 movies instead of 10.
Sorry, we’re a little bitter. Anyway, we’d love to hear your thoughts!
Do U think Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close was the right choice for a Best Picture nominee at the 2012 Academy Awards? If not, what movie deserved to be nominated instead?
