Sounds like this should be more successful than Detroit’s attempt to get a Robocop statue erected. Ha!
Marcus Mitchell and Steve White of Armdeonce Ventures are currently seeking out private donors to help them build a monument for Beyonce in Houston, Texas…and we’re hearing that the city is supporting them!
Here’s what Marcus had to say about it:
“She is the number 1 entertainer from Houston. She├óΓé¼Γäós in the prime of her career, producer, actress; Houston is proud and she comes back to Houston often.”
“Our biggest thing is a lot of people get honored when they die, so our goal is to why not honor people why they’re still here? We felt as though it├óΓé¼Γäós her time to be honored.”
“We wanted to construct, like, a massive hall so as the doors open, if you donated to the monument, you’ll have a separate nameplate. There will be clips of Beyonce with Destiny├óΓé¼Γäós Child and wardrobe like a mini museum.”
And more from Marcus:
“We├óΓé¼Γäóve gotten support from the city of Houston, from the mayor. We├óΓé¼Γäóre waiting for a very nice letter from the mayor right now.”
Assuming all goes according to plan, the Beyonument should be unveiled on September 4th (Bey’s b-day).
Best part of it all? Some proceeds from the project will go to Music for America, Beyonce’s Survivor foundation, and the Grammy Cares foundation!
