Mia Wasikowska Is Madame Bovary

For the first time, Hollywood is adapting Gustave Flaubert‘s masterpiece Madame Bovary, and producers have cast Alice In Wonderland‘s Mia Wasikowska to play the titular character.
The classic French novel has seen screen incarnations in the UK over the years, but this is the first time it’s getting the American treatment. It follows Emma Bovary, the wife of a doctor, who has adulterous affairs and lives beyond her means to escape her boring life.
The young actress has already played Jane Eyre, so we doubt she’ll have a problem with this period piece either.
