It’s a very important day in North Carolina!
When voters cast their ballot for the primaries, they’ll also be voting yay or nay on a gay marriage ban!
If Amendment 1 passes, in their own words, “marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized.”
So not only will consenting, gay adults lose any hope to marry in the state, they won’t even be able to enjoy a civil union.
But the LGBT community won’t be the only one suffering is this passes. Opponents of the measure stress the harm it would cause to victims of domestic violence.
As Bill Clinton puts it, “the real effect of the law will be to hurt families and drive away jobs.”
Just something to keep in mind today when you’re at the polls, NC readers!!!
