We thought Danny Tanner raised you better, gurl!
Candace Cameron, who played DJ Tanner on Full House and plays Kirk Cameron’s sister in real life, took to Twitter on “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” to show her full support for the company’s beliefs bigotry.
Sure, the owners don’t want a significant portion of the American population to be happy or share some of the same legal rights that straight people enjoy, but that’s okay because, as Cameron captioned her picture:
“We love chikin!”
Ugh! Obvi this Chick-fil-A controversy has polarized the nation and every one is picking sides. We get it if you can’t give up fast food for a cause. After all, it’s pretty addicting stuff. However, we don’t understand why people are so proud that they ate at the chain despite a boycott.
We’re thrilled that this became a national issue because it shows that countrywide support for the LGBT community is growing and becoming for vocal against the intolerance that has plagued this country for centuries. On the flip side, all of the lines pouring out of Chick-fil-A doors yesterday only reminded us that there are still far too many people who don’t get it.
The issue isn’t chicken or free speech. The issue is that there are people, like Dan Cathy, who are actively contributing to discriminatory laws that ban same-sex marriage.
Those of us who are asking for the same love and respect given to straight couples aren’t trying to take away traditional marriage from anyone. We just want people who don’t fall into the “traditional” category to be happy too.
Our culture teaches us that we should grow up, fall in love, get married and start a family. Thanks to dated laws based on conservative beliefs born from particular religions, it’s particularly hard for anyone in LGBT community to accomplish the last two.
It’s a real shame that people keep allowing their own personal beliefs to affect the happiness of others who do not share those beliefs. Supporters of same-sex marriage aren’t trying to take away traditional marriage rights from Americans, but are simply trying to give those rights to EVERY American.
