It’s National Marriage Equality Day!
In an effort to show support for businesses that are LGBT-friendly (and proud of it), Equally Wed magazine is encouraging same-sex marriage supporters to patronize these establishments.
While Chick-fil-A owners are adamant about traditional marriage, companies like Starbucks, Best Buy, and Nike openly believe in and support equality. Organizers of the event originally wanted to specifically flood Starbucks in a similar fashion that people did on Mike Huckabee‘s “Appreciation Day,” but it turns out that there was already a Starbucks Appreciation Day.
Instead, the online LGBT marriage magazine explained:
“In an effort to heighten awareness for all companies and nonprofits contributing to the fight for marriage equality, we├óΓé¼Γäóve decided to rename August 7 as National Marriage Equality Day. EquallyWed.com asks that you spend your money wisely on this day, and every day. It├óΓé¼Γäós important to be an informed consumer.”
