Oh, no!!
Sesame Street star Kevin Clash stands accused of sexually abusing an underage boy seven years ago.
Kevin, a.k.a. the voice of Elmo, denies these accusations, but will take a leave of absence to concentrate on defending his reputation.
Kevin admits to a relationship with the now 23 year-old accuser, but swears it occurred after the man came of age.
He revealed:
“I had a relationship with [the accuser]. It was between two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not.”
Sesame Workshop lawyers met with the accuser recently, and they don’t think he has evidence to support his claims.
A rep from the show’s parent company insists they stand behind Kevin, saying:
“Kevin insists that these allegations are false and defamatory and he has taken actions to protect his reputation. We have granted him a leave of absence to do so.”
The accuser reportedly hired a lawyer who represented one of Jerry Sandusky‘s victims.
This would be a terrible, shocking crime if true.
We sincerely hope law enforcement officials investigate and find no evidence indicating Kevin did something so heinous.
