Comme des Garcons and The Beatles have come together (see what we did there) to create a line of tee shirts and bags!
CDG head designer Rei Kawakubo said that she wanted to create a “strong, conceptual,” collection, “instead of making many unnecessary items that may in time come to resemble a Beatles souvenir shop… I thought i twas better to concentrate on one strong idea, so I decided to construct the collection around the one idea of bags.”
The bags are constructed of embossed polyurethane at the request of Paul McCartney, whose main stipulation was that no leather be used in the collection (the iconic musician is an avid promoter of vegetarianism and animal rights). The tees, priced at about $115, and bags, as much as $860, will launch November 20th in Tokyo.
