Audrey's Auction Exceeds Expectations

Everyone expected the auction of Audrey Hepburn‘s collection of clothing to do well, but not this well!

Overall, the auction made over £270,000, or $437,994, exceeding the £100,000 projection by nearly three times.

The famous black cloque silk Givenchy gown Audrey wore in Paris When It Sizzles went for £16,800, or $27,253, and the wedding dress designed for her proposed wedding to James Hanson went for £13,800 or $22,386, but the real money maker was the white Chantilly lace cocktail gown, which was estimated to go for £20,000 but went for three times that, at £60,000 or $97,332.

Damn! That’s not chump change!

Hope the bidder was small – Audrey’s measurements were a svelte 5’7″ in height, 32 inch bust, 22 inch waist, 34 inch hips. Skinny mini!

Then again, after paying nearly $100,000 dollars for the gown, chances are it’s going in a glass case somewhere. Can’t risk damaging the valuable frock!

The best part of all is that half of all moneys raised will go to The Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund and Unicef for their joint venture, All Children In School, the goal of which is to provide an education for 115 million children globally.

Love it!
