Jean Paul Gaultier loves to put on a good show, and that he did during his fall/winter 2010/2011 menswear show today in Paris. Apparently inspired by boxing, the designer had models traipsing down the runway sporting bloodied faces and boxing-inspired garb.
The collection included silk robe trenches, leather muscle tanks, slouchy boxing leggings, muscle-printed turtlencks, and a even a sweat suit – literally, a suit made of sweatpants material.
He accessorized his collection with extra-wide belts, lace-up shoes, towels, and even boxing gloves. He’s really commited to the whole boxing theme!
The designer said, “It’s about combat, combating boredom, combatting the reigning depressive state.”
When asked, however, if he boxes himself, Gaultier gave an emphatic, “no way!” Adding, “I don’t think these little hands are made for such a sport.”
Do you like the fighter-inspired collection?
