Using fashion to raise money for charity is always a great idea!
Olivia Wilde got together with her friend/partner, Barbara Burchfield, fashion retailer Shopbob, and Alternative Apparel on Monday at The James Hotel in NYC to promote a super cool Message Bag that was sold for charity.
20% of the bag’s proceeds went to the Academy for Peace and Justice, a secondary school in Port-au-Prince, a Haiti funded by Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis‘ charity and Artists for Peace and Justice.
Head of buying for Shopbop, Darcey Penick is very ecstatic about the bag, she said:

“While we always start with product and we love the Alternative bag, we were particularly excited to have this bag on site because it was such a great charity and cause.”

Over 600 bags were sold, and the goal to furnish a classroom was met.
Now, the Message Bag is getting the charity a step closer to paying a teacher’s salary or sponsoring a class.
How cool!
The bag is very cute, so we’re not surprised if it would’ve sold without having a charity attached to it.
Fashion can really make a difference!
