Connecting Faith To Fitness Increases Results
This is crazy, but there’s a study to back it up!
A group at UCLA recently conducted a study that showed that African-American women exercised longer and harder when their exercise programs were connected to faith.
The results were pretty dramatic, where women involved in the faith-based program increased their weekly steps (while walking) by 78 percent while those in the control group saw an increase of 19 percent.
“Our findings suggest that interventions using faith-based strategies may be effective in changing behavior among older African-American women,” said Dr. O. Kenrik Duru, the lead researcher on the study.
Obviously this is an incomplete study, as it only tested black women, but it would likely effect anyone who is religious. For those of you atheists out there, you’ll have to stick to Lady Gaga!
