Scientists have revealed that they found a possible link between breast implants and a rare form of cancer.
The cancer is called “anaplastic large cell lymphoma,” and it attacks lymph nodes and the skin and has been found in the scar tissue that grows around an implant.
Said Dr. William Maisel, FDA’s chief scientist for devices:
“We are very interested in trying to understand more specifically which patients may be at more risk and which breast implants may present a higher risk.”
Thankfully, there are only 60 known cases of this cancer worldwide, so the likelihood of someone getting it is extremely low.
