The state government of Western Australia has set out tuna as bait for great white sharks in the area.
They’re hoping to catch the man eaters who have already killed several people this year, most recently, George Thomas Wainwright, who we previously mentioned, was a young Texan living and working in Australia.
His father said:
“He did more in 32 years than a lot of people do in a lifetime. Thomas loved the water ever since he was a little boy.
He loved the water. He was very cautious… that didn’t stop him from what he was passionate about. He was passionate about life and his hobbies and he didn’t let that stop him.”
Authorities are hoping that getting rid of some of the larger great whites in the area will stop the attacks.
Even though great white sharks are endangered, the authorities say that the public’s safety comes first so they are exempting themselves from the rule.
