Who knew an old pooch could divide and conquer a city?!?!
Blue, an 11 year old Australian cattle dog, raised some heated the debate in the town of Elephant Butte, NM.
Yep, Elephant Butte. A place sandwiched between a town called Truth and Consequences and a desert named Jornada del Muerto, the route of the dead man.
The old canine was abandoned as a pup and he has walked the street of teeny-weeny Elephant Butte (abotu 1,431 people) ever since. However, now that he’s old, Blue can’t run or move as fast as he used to, which is causing a few traffic jams.
Leash laws were imposed on the city and Blue’s caretaker, Bob Owen, was fined for not tying up the dog.
And that’s when the shiz hit the Butte!
Owen contested the fine and was given a reprieve, but now he must go to court to truly put the fine to bed. However, that wasn’t the big problem.
The city split over what to do with Blue and the city-council met with a full house to finally give this old dog some respite.
Blue now has to stay within an electrified area but the man can’t tie him down!
