Have you ever called someone a real shark brain???
Probably not…but the shark brain may have similarities to a human’s….
Helpful similarities!
The University of Western Australia have found that the brains of great white sharks have similar regions that contribute to vision as a humans.
Sharks have large optic tecta in their brains which means they rely heavily on vision compared to other creatures.
So how does this help humans? By helping create better shark repellants!
Currently, most shark repellants rely on non-visual deterrents like chemicals and electrical pulses. Using VISUAL deterrents may have a greater impact and help warding off sharks.
So, is the way to fend off a shark through its eyes?!?! We’ll find out soon!
