Senior Class President Gets Suspended Days Before Graduation Because Of A Tweet!

senior class president graduation suspended harmless tweet
Before you sharpen your pitchforks in anticipation for what this kid tweeted, we can tell you right now that he absolutely should not have been suspended for it. It’s VERY tame, and the reaction from the administration is pretty appalling!
The kid in question happens to be the senior class president at a Height High School, and has been suspended and banned from almost all graduation activities. Why? A tweet that the school officials claim insulted athletes at the school.
Are you ready for the tweet? Here you go:

“‘Heights U’ is equivalent to WSU’s football team.”

Meaning, non-existent. And “Heights U” is the nickname given to the sports at the school because they play at high levels of competition — almost like a university. Not only that, but it was created by underclassmen as a term of support for football and stuff.
Wichita State University dropped its football program after the 1986 season.
Also, are you f***ing kidding us here?
School officials are claiming Wesley Teague created a disruption both online and at the school. What happened to free speech? Who cares if this guy didn’t have much respect for the sports program? Several students DID argue Teague├óΓé¼Γäós right to post them, thankfully!
Here’s what he said in response:

“It’s completely unfair, and I just think it’s a joke. It’s a 100 percent truthful tweet and it wasn’t meant to offend a single person or group of people. … I only meant that ‘Heights U’ doesn’t exist because it doesn’t. We’re not a university.”

Why is this guy suspended again?
Here’s what the school’s letter to his parents said:

“Wesley posted some very inappropriate tweets about the Heights athletic teams, aggressively disrespecting many athletes. After reading the tweets and taking statements from other students it was found that Wesley acted to incite the majority of our Heights athletes.”

WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?? They can’t be serious! “Very inappropriate?” “Aggressively disrespecting?” Did they even read the tweet??
Someone replace the staff at this school, because their priorities are waaaay out of whack! This is SO STUPID!
He wasn’t saying anything THAT negative, or towards anyone SPECIFIC. His mom hits the nail on the head:

“I guess I wonder whether the same thing would have happened if he said something (negative) about the vocal music department.”

We hold high school sports on such a ridiculous pedestal. They have their benefits and excitement, but shizz goes too far, too often.
