As a source of news, we have the responsibility to take serious situations seriously, and that includes never downplaying something as scary as a suicide attempt as just a call for attention. Some sources, however, have no problem making it seem this way.
Their proof? An anonymous source saying that cops don’t think Paris Jackson wanted to die, who goes on to call her a teen who’s just ‘into drama.’ ARE YOU KIDDING US?
Here’s what they said:
“She wanted attention. It makes no sense if you really want to die to call a hotline, where the person on the other end will get an ambulance over to your house.”
So because she called a suicide hotline — just like people with real suicidal thoughts are urged to do so their lives can be saved — that means she only wanted attention? Does anyone else see how awful that sounds?
What message is this sending to people who can be helped by those hotlines??
Another source continued:
“Who takes Motrin to kill themselves? She called the suicide hotline because she wanted the attention and wanted to make sure EMTs got there in time.”
Everyone is way off base here. We should be looking at the fact that because she called the hotline, she was saved… and that’s a GOOD DAMN THING! That’s not an excuse to brush off the seriousness of her issues!
Depression is not something to push aside, and when someone goes so far as to cut themselves with a meat clever and take a load of pills, you bet your asses we’re going to take it seriously and get them the help they need — not just sit here and chalk it up to being a dramatic teenager.
Paris is a smart young girl, and she’s been dealt a hard childhood. Let’s lift her up instead of being part of the problem!
