7-Eleven BANS The Rolling Stone Boston Bomber Issue Too!!

rolling stone dzhokhar tsarnaev 7 eleven cvs cover ban boycott

By now, you know our stance on Rolling Stone‘s decision to put Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (one of the Boston Bombers) on the cover of their magazine: they had every right to do it, but that doesn’t mean they should have.

First we heard that CVS was taking a stand against the insensitive placement, one that is usually an honor for those who are lucky enough to get on the cover because it’s a sign of having ‘made it’ to fame. Now, we’re hearing that the magazine has been pulled out of nearly 2,000 7-Eleven stores, with more on the horizon.

Here’s what the rep for the store said:

“[7-Eleven] will not sell the Aug. 1 issue of the Rolling Stone magazine in its company-operated stores.”

To clarify, there are 1,700 company operated stores, but also another 5,900 franchises privately owned. They’ll be urging the franchises to do the same!

While RS has the right to put whatever they want on the cover, we’re glad we’re seeing stores exercising their right not to carry it!
