Everyone! Run for your lives! It’s the Apocalypse! And it’s all the gays’ fault!
As CAH-RAZY as that might sound, Russian church leader Patriarch Kirill believes every word of it.
According to him, the more rights gay individuals get, the closer we come to the end of the world!
Blughhh. Eye roll…
Patriarch Kirill warned his country of the dangers that come from allowing same-sex marriage, saying:
“This is a very dangerous apocalyptic symptom, and we must do everything in our powers to ensure that sin is never sanctioned in Russia by state law, because that would mean that the nation has embarked on a path of self-destruction.”
Kirill is asking all Russians to help him in blocking any law that would allow gay rights in the country. He also recently gave a wag of his finger at nations, like the US, who have already begun offering equality to ALL of its citizens. He said:
“We face enormous temptations when countries start approving sin and codifying it into law in order to justify it.”
This anti-gay sentiment doesn’t stop at the church either. So far, President Vladimir Putin has signed three anti-gay bills into law and many think there are more to come.
The current press to diminish LGBT rights in Russia have citizens and outsiders alike very nervous about the safety of gays in the country. Tilda Swinton recently visited the Red Square to show her support for gay rights.
So the support IS there, but it really should be in greater numbers. It’s really a pity that so many are blind to the truth. Love is love.
