The story of the incredible 2-year-old Logan Stevenson will break your heart…
Doctors told Logan’s parents, Sean Stevenson and Christine Swidorsky, that the toddler, who suffered from the rare disease Fanconi anemia, which caused tumors to grow on both kidneys, only had a few weeks to live after one of his kidneys had to be removed, so they did what they thought was best in honoring his last few days on earth.
They tied the knot over the weekend to celebrate their family being together, and had the little two-year-old be their best man.
The wedding included their 13-year-old and 1-year-old daughters, which made the ceremony even more bittersweet.
Unfortunately, Logan lost his battle with this terrible disease on Monday night.
His mom posted this message to her Facebook:
“At 8:18 my son took his last breath in my arms. I’m so sad, upset and I’m in disbelief. He is with angels, and he’s in no more pain. No more sickness, no more hospitals. We love all of [you] for all your prayers.”
Truly, truly heartbreaking. There are no words.
Christine said earlier on Monday:
“I am so thankful his story was out there, and we got to share his story with the world. We just want everyone to know who Logan is. His legacy is going to live on.”
And she also previously said:
“I just am thankful that I am able to bring my son home and have time with him and hold him before he goes. So in that sense, I feel lucky that I at least get to say goodbye to my son … and tell him it’s going to be okay.”
Losing a child has to be one of the hardest things that life can ever throw at you, but at least this family got a chance to say goodbye and do the big things they dreamed of doing together.
The world will never forget this very special little boy.
