Jana Witteropp was a 20-year-old German tourist, visiting Maui, Hawaii.
She was snorkeling off the coast of White Rock beach, as we previously mentioned, when she was suddenly attacked by a shark!!
It bit her right below her shoulder!
Rick Moore, 57, was one of the first people on the scene. He said:
“As we were walking up to the beach we heard this scream, this blood-curdling scream out in the water. All she had hanging out on her right arm was her bone, and she was in and out of saying these words, ‘I’m dying, I’m going to die.’ I kept saying ‘No you’re not, you’re not, I’m going to get you to shore, I’m going to save you.'”
Oh wow├óΓé¼┬ª that’s gruesome and just horrible!! Just a bone?! Eww!!
Luckily, Rick and some other bystanders were able to pull her onto the shore.
They performed CPR on her to try and keep her conscious because she was losing a lotttt of blood.
She is still currently at Maui Memorial Medical Center where she remains in critical condition.
We really hope she pulls through!!
