The line between good-natured fandom and high-intensity obsession is thinner than Corey Feldman‘s wallet — we get it! We’ve all been there!
That doesn’t excuse thieving, though, and it definitely doesn’t excuse injuring somebody in the process!!
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what one David Hasselhoff super-fan stands accused of doing!
When the 61-year-old Knight Rider actor recently teamed up with Cumberland Farms for an iced coffee Hoffee ad campaign, he had no idea what mayhem would follow! Apparently David’s most rabid fans loved him on those posters and cardboard cutouts so much, that they started stealing all of them!
As funny as that may sound — it isn’t, we promise — one Cumberland Farms employee wound up in the hospital!
When a 36-year-old Connecticut clerk watched a thief stuff several Hoff cutouts into an SUV early one morning, he intervened and tried to thwart the Hassel-heist!
Sadly, the thief’s vehicle struck him during the getaway, and the clerk landed on his head and was critically injured!!.
Wow! We love The Hoff as much as the next guy — he single-handedly ended the Cold War, how cool is that? — but passion is no excuse for violent crime!!!
Investigators are searching for the assailant, but the Baywatch stud feels absolutely horrible!
After hearing the news he tweeted:
I am shocked& truly saddened about the Cumberland farms store clerk tragedy My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with him and his family!

We share Mr. Hasselhoff’s sentiments! Hopefully the clerk recovers quickly!
