Oprah Tearfully Reflects On All The People Who Haven't Made It To Their 60th Birthday! And Reveals What 60 Means To Her!

Leave it to Oprah to get us all teary-eyed right after celebrating her 60th birthday!
On Wednesday, the media mogul was honored at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for her performance in Lee Daniel’s The Butler and for her life’s work.
During O’s acceptance speech, she took the opportunity to reflect on all the lives lost this year and beyond – even getting personal (okay, a tad TMI-ish) with the audience about her past health:

“First I thought this: I thought about all the people who didn’t make it. I thought about when I was 48 and having heart palpitations and I thought I was dying, but it was really just the beginning. Really I was just premenopausal.”

She continued:

“I thought about 9/11. I thought about all the people who got up and they took their dogs out the same way I did. They made their coffee. They made their tea. They put their robes on, and they went off for the day. And they never made it, and they were 22, and 37, and 48, and 52, and they never would ever see 60. So, I thought about that.”

Ugh, tissues please…
This sadness should be illegal!
On a much lighter note, Oprah also gushed about how lucky she felt living so many great years:

“I thought how remarkable [it is] I’ve had this amazing life. And what’s great about 60 is you are through with the bullsh├óΓé¼ΓÇ£t, it means you are really and truly through.”

You go girl!
Reflect and move on from the past – because we KNOW she’s going to take her future by storm!
