A life has been saved, for now…
After Marius the giraffe was senselessly murdered at Copenhagen Zoo, another Danish zoo was trying to do the same thing!
But not anymore!
Jyllands Park Zoo posted on their Facebook on Friday that their Marius would live for the moment! The Zoo wrote:
“The European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) have announced that Jyllands Park Zoo is not to recieve a female giraffe any time soon as part of the programme.
As a result of this we will of course keep both our giraffes, as we have stated all along. There is no plan, and there has never been a plan to neither move or euthanize any of our giraffes. The media stories are only based on a hypothetical situation, which we have answered questions about. This situation now seems to be eliminated.

Phew! That was a close one!
The EAZA confirmed that the zoo isn’t going to give Jyllands a female giraffe anytime soon because the zoo hasn’t asked for it. Also, they have no more room for breeding reticulated giraffe herds, so the organization would “not recommend the transfer of a female giraffe to Jyllands.”
Hopefully they NEVER give the zoo a female reticulated giraffe because we can’t handle another Marius death!
