Matt Lauer has just inked a deal that will keep him on the Today show for another two years…at least!
With only a couple months left on his contract, Matt told NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke, News Group chairman Pat Fili-Krushel, and NBC News president Deborah Turness last week that he wanted to stay, according to sources.
Negotiations finalized on Thursday night, and there were hugs and applause galore on the Today show set Friday morning.
This news means that Matt will be going into his 20th year on the show, which Matt is thrilled over:
“I consider this the best job in broadcasting. I love people I work with every day, and I have such respect and gratitude for the people I work for. I couldn’t be happier to be staying.”
Congrats, Matt! Keep on making the peacock proud!
