The USA is home to so many awesome things, like Mount Rushmore, Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles, and of course the world’s tallest thermometer! But when it comes to health care, there’s a LOT of room for improvement!
According to the 2014 Commonwealth Fund survery, the US ranked dead last in health care coverage when compared to 10 other wealthy nations including, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Canada, Sweden, New Zealand, Norway, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, with the UK and Switzerland ranking first and second respectively!
The survey took a lot of different numbers into account, but where America’s health care system really proved to be flawed was “efficiency, equity and outcomes,” where it ranked last!
What makes this all even worse is that health care coverage in the U.S. is WAY more expensive than it is in any of these other countries, meaning citizens are paying a lot more for coverage that isn’t even doing a good job of keeping them alive!
The survey DID point out that there have been a lot of signs of improvement thanks to the Affordable Care Act, however, if you’re a U.S. citizen and are planning on getting sick anytime soon, you might want to rethink that!
