This is fantastic news for Catholics and animal lovers everywhere!!
Pope Francis has just confirmed some amazing news: animals are welcome in heaven!

While giving his weekly address in St. Peter’s Square, the Pope apparently tried to console a young boy who was super upset over the death of his beloved dog.
The Pope allegedly said:
“One day, we will see our animals again the eternity of Christ. Paradise is open to all of God’s creatures.”
Wow! That’s amazing! It’s been a long-held belief by some more conservative Catholics that animals don’t have souls and therefore can’t get into heaven.
But we guess the Pope just undid all that!

It all makes sense. The Pope, an animal lover, took his papal name from St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
Some theologians are saying the Pope was just speaking casually to a child, and never made a “doctrinal statement.”
But we’re pretty sure the Pope doesn’t lie. Especially to children. If the Pope says animals go to heaven, then animals go to heaven.
Way to keep being cool, Pope!!
