Okay, seriously?!
We’ve been expecting some bogus news stories in celebration of April Fools’ Day, but some people are taking it too far!!
For instance, NFL player Bruce Irvin.

The Seattle Seahawk thought that joking about the subject of drunk driving would deliver a ton of LOLz. In an attempt to fool the online community, the athlete tweeted:
Before this hits the media I just wanna apologize to my fans and the @Seahawks organization once again. I made a terrible decision b driving

But the poignant tweet wasn’t an admission of wrongful doing, it was just an April Fools’ Joke!
The linebacker added this punchline shortly after:
How many of yall thought I was serious ?! Haha April fools!!!

Bruce didn’t anticipate the heavy backlash he received from Twitter in response to his distasteful joke.
Followers sent him a deluge of messages letting him know how unfunny it was! He tweeted in defense:

Ugh, what buzzkills! How did they not get that it was an April Fool’s Joke?
Oh wait, maybe it has something to do with how THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIE EACH YEAR FROM DRUNK DRIVING-RELATED ACCIDENTS!
It’s really not that funny when you think about it.
We hope the athlete learned from his mistake, as this is a great reminder for everyone to think before they tweet!
