Yesterday, Bill Cosby had an arrest warrant issued and was later arraigned in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania for one charge of aggravated indecent assault on Andrea Constand in 2004.
The comedian did not enter a plea and the judge set his bail at $1 million to which the actor posted 10% of the full amount and was able to leave the police station.
Since then, the comedian’s legal representation has spoken out as they believe the criminal charge is just a political move. One of Cosby’s representatives, Monique Pressley, has further supported this idea and addressed the charges by saying:
“The charge by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office came as no surprise. Filed 12 years after the alleged incident and coming on the heels of a hotly contested election for this county’s DA during which this case was made the focal point.”

Pressley continued by saying:
“Make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense against this unjustified charge and we expect that Mr. Cosby will be exonerated by a court of law.”
Not everyone is buying this though, as several celebrities including Judd Apatow, Lena Dunham, and Amy Schumer took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the charges against the 78-year-old. Beverly Johnson, who claims she was drugged at the star’s home said:
When it comes down to it, truth is simple. There is nothing that we give to others that does not come back to us in some shape or form.

But there were a slew of other responses as well:
Bill Cosby has spent his life attempting to silence the women he has assaulted with threats, lawsuits and money. https://t.co/WQDSPbOc9f

Hopefully now many of these women will get to tell their stories in a court of law and the people who supported him will get deposed.

Cosby’s attorneys could do a better job walking him into the courthouse.

Grateful that Bill Cosby’s criminal record will be marked forever, like the lives of the women he raped. They deserve justice and peace.

If I believed in hell Bill Cosby would be going there.

Thank you! It’s all so awful! https://t.co/eEDk3ywG6M

What’s this about Bill Cosby and Woody Allen?

When I was a kid, and you heard the word “Cosby” and “booking” … it was in reference to him doing stand up in Cleveland. #smh #speechless

So happy to live in a society where all it takes to get the legal system moving against powerful men is testimony from more than 50 women.

An unarmed bill cosby was arrested by police today. and they didn’t shoot him. #progress #BlackLivesMatter

More runaway white privilege: If Hillary’s so jazzed to have sexual predator Bill Clinton campaign for her, why no invitation to Bill Cosby?

It will be interesting to see what happens once the comedian is in court. But honestly at this point, we just hope Bill gets what’s coming to him.
