March 25, 2015 is a day that will live in infamy… at least for One Direction fans!
This tragic day was just like any other day for Directioners, until they checked their Facebook to see their world had turned upside down — because Zayn Malik had announced he was leaving the chart-topping boyband!
It’s hard to forget the public outcry from 1D’s passionate fandom — who felt betrayed, confused, and frightened by the devastating announcement.

But a lot can change in a year. Not only did the Pillowtalk singer release his first solo album, but the rest of the band revealed they would be taking a extended hiatus.
So on the anniversary of Zayn’s departure, Directioners took to Twitter to lament the loss in their typical histrionic fashion — with plenty of tears and fan art.
While some fans decided to keep it positive and focus on the 23-year-old’s new album Mind of Mine, some fans are clearly still not over the tragedy and have lost their faith in humanity.
