We had a feeling there was more to this story…
On Tuesday, UFC champion Conor McGregor shocked fans by casually announcing his retirement on Twitter.
Many critics wrote the message off as a prank, since the Irish fighter has a HUGE rematch coming up against Nate Diaz at UFC 200 in July.
Now, it looks like the tweet was in response to a beef McGregor had with UFC head Dana White — who pulled the featherweight champion out of UFC 200!

According to White, the 27-year-old athlete refused to fly to Vegas to promote the highly-anticipated event, telling ESPN:
“Conor did not want to come to Las Vegas and film the commercial or be a part of any of the marketing that we have.”
Understanding that McGregor is currently training in Iceland, he asserted “you have to do the press conference” — noting that he once yanked Nate’s brother Nick Diaz from a fight for bailing on a press conference.
And just like any good fight, neither party is backing down. Sources say Conor has NOT called back the UFC after White’s decision — which means his retirement announcement might just be the real deal after all!
If Conor gets some sense knocked into him, the star will not reportedly be penalized any more than this — but UFC 200 isn’t the only career changer McGregor got axed from recently!

The fighter’s part was also reportedly cut from Vin Diesel‘s film xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, after pulling out of the film last month to focus on training for UFC 200.
UFC star Michael Bisping, who has a role in the upcoming sequel, said Conor’s “part got written out” as he was leaving the set in Toronto.
So, it looks like it’s too late for Conor to shift his focus to Hollywood action star — despite now having plenty of free time! Oh, the irony!
Do YOU think the fighter will issue an apology?
