Disney‘s most recent live action endeavor, Aladdin, just hit theaters last week, but there’s never any rest for the House of Mouse.
The blockbuster factory is already on the promo train for their next big adaptation: The Lion King.
The “live action” remake hits theaters July 19, and Disney is getting fans ready for the new looks of its animal characters with individual one sheet character posters.

While a star-studded cast, including Donald Glover, Beyoncé, and the irreplaceable James Earl Jones, will infuse them with classic cartoon spirit, the aesthetic of the animals is pure mother nature.
And that means a few characters won’t look quite so recognizable.
While people couldn’t get over how cute Timon (voiced this time by Billy Eichner) looked as a photorealistic meerkat, the image of Pumbaa looking straight down the camera was a little too alarming for some.
Seth Rogen shared the image of his warthog role on Twitter Thursday, and it’s…
Well, it’s different. Take a look (below):
Yep. That looks like a warthog.
Warts and all, you might say.
Definitely scary if you’re a grub! LOLz!
But seriously, quite a few people could not get over the beastly appearance of the, um, beast.
People called him everything from a “scary” to “a nightmare” to “if Nigel Thornberry was the Devil goat from The Witch.”
(Which is frankly hilarious, btw, nice one, @JennaMichelle29!)
We never thought we’d see controversy over the fella who sings Hakuna Matata for cryin’ out loud, but that’s Twitter! LOLz!
See some of the most horrified responses first:

Therapist: It's okay, photo realistic Pumbaa isn't real & can't hurt you.

It wasn’t much better on Disney’s Instagram page, which also shared the image.
Fans wrote:
“Pumbaa is horrible”
“Looks like Pumbaa ain’t HAKUNA MATATA-ing no more”
“me going from Timon to Pumbaa ‘awwwwwawwawaAAAaAAH'”
For those who aren’t seeing the scariness, a few Twitter users tried to express the terror for others.
This is apparently what the new Pumbaa looks like to some people:
we were talking about how scary pumbaa looks in the new lion king so i uh. turned his poster into a horror movie poster pic.twitter.com/fLnDzcJKr5

Eep!
Of course, not everyone was surprised. And frankly they couldn’t help but mock those who seemed to be looking at a warthog for the first time in their lives.
One that wasn’t a cartoon, that is…
What the hell yall thought Pumbaa was suppose to look like? Piglet? pic.twitter.com/c7HKcC4OiZ

So what’s the verdict, Perezcious readers?
Do y’all think the new Pumbaa is nightmare fuel? Just a bad angle for the poster?
Or is it just folks being ridiculous and ignorant about how warthogs look?
