Legendary former news anchor Dan Rather is suing CBS!!!
For $70 million dollars!!!!
Rather has slapped CBS exec Les Moonves and the former news president for the station, Andrew Heyward, for fraud in the claim that he was made a scapegoat by CBS in the 2004 scandal of former prez George W. Bush‘s military record.
Says Martin Gold, Rather’s lawyer: “These are the two individuals who committed the crime on behalf of CBS and we’re holding them personally responsible.”
The former news anchor originally sued the pair in 2007 for breach of contract, saying the network “damaged his future job prospects” when Rather was relieved from his position at CBS News in March 2005.
CBS’s response?
Says a spokesperson for the network: “If anything, this latest tactic confirms that the whole charade is more a tiresome plea for attention by Rather than a serious lawsuit.”
This could get messy!
