Britanny Murphy's Ex To Attend Oscars! Why???

And of course he’s going — anything for some press!

Simon Monjack has been invited to Sunday’s Academy Awards presumably because wife Brittany Murphy will be featured in the montage of entertainment industry members that have passed away.

“The Oscars have invited me and I will attend,” Simon confirmed. “I do not know what they are planning. Since I was invited, I’m assuming something will be done involving Brittany.”

We wonder if her mother was invited, too?
