University of Nebraska’s assistant football coach, Ron Brown, thinks it would be an “honor” to lose his job for making anti-gay remarks.
He went to an Omaha City Council meeting a month ago to speak against a proposed LGBT rights law, that ended up getting passed.
Brown told council members that the law would go against biblical prohibitions on homosexuality.
“The question I have for you all is, like Pontius Pilate, what are you going to do with Jesus? Ultimately, if you don├óΓé¼Γäót have a relationship with him and you don├óΓé¼Γäót really have a Bible-believing mentality, really, anything goes.”
People are now calling for Brown to be fired because the school bans anti-gay discrimination and they fear it’ll make a hostile environment for the school’s LGBT student athletes.
The school admins are supporting him, saying the university doesn’t agree with him, but he has the right to express his beliefs.
“To be fired for my faith would be a greater honor than to be fired because we didn├óΓé¼Γäót win enough games. I haven├óΓé¼Γäót lost any sleep over it. I realize at some point, we live in a politically correct enough culture where that very well could happen.”
We completely understand wanting to speak your mind, freedom of speech and the right to make up your own mind about anything.
But seriously? People are still swinging the bible around to try and repeal gay rights laws?
Really?
Made he should pray on the ideas of tolerance and love for all humankind.
