In today’s shocking yet awesome news, Abercrombie & Fitch has reportedly made plans to stock larger sizes!
You may recall the brouhaha that resulted back in May when CEO Mike Jeffries was quoted as saying that he only wants “good-looking people in our stores,” which presumably does not include any woman who wears anything over a pant size 10 and a top size large, since they don’t stock any size above that.
But now, reports indicate that dwindling sales have forced the company to be more inclusive, like competitors H&M and American Eagle!
Leslee Herro, the company’s head of planning and allocation, said:
“We recognize that our businesses have been and will continue to be disrupted by both fast fashion and pure play e-commerce competitors.”
And this realization will now lead them to offer a wider range of styles AND sizes, beginning next spring! There are also plans to expand their accessories line and introduce a shoe line.
However, there’s no word yet on how high their new larger sizes will go.
We honestly never thought this day would come, but money talks, baby, and no company wants to be in the red.
Will this and the CEO’s apology be enough to renew interest in the brand?
Guess only time will tell!
