Alcohol Is Linked To Better Survival After Heart Attacks

Booze Heart Attacks
If you want to survive that impending heart attack, we suggest you get four or five cognacs deep!
Just kidding! First and foremost we would much rather you NOT have the heart attack in the first place — which means keeping yourself in shape!
But if it’s unavoidable, having a few drinks during the month might do you some good: Women who drank just a few a month up to more than three a week in the year leading up to the heart attack had a better survival rate than those who didn’t dip into Uncle Vernon’s Liquid Courage. More than a thousand woman were tested.

“One thing that was interesting was that we didn’t see differences among different beverage types. The most recent evidence suggests that it’s the alcohol itself that’s beneficial. One drink a day is a really good target, assuming that a person can be disciplined about that. You don’t need to assume that people need to stop drinking once they develop heart disease. The problem is that alcohol is a slippery slope, and while we know that a little bit is good for us, a lot of it is really bad.”

After the last 10 years, 44 out of every 100 women who didn’t drink died, 25 out of 100 light drinkers died, and 18 out of 100 heavier drinkers died. Those are quite the statistics!
Protect yourselves! Heart attacks can be devastating!
