Andrew Glennon Is Focusing On Giving Baby James 'Happy Memories' Following Amber Portwood's Arrest

Andrew Glennon is trying to heal from his domestic drama with estranged girlfriend, Amber Portwood.

The 35-year-old cinematographer spoke with DailyMailTV about next steps for him and his son James, a month after the Teen Mom OG star was arrested for allegedly attacking him with a machete while he was holding the 1-year-old baby.

While the father said he “can’t go into detail about the case of the incident,” he made it clear there needed to be “a lot of healing” in the family before things could even potentially go back to normal.

Meanwhile, he’s focused on making sure baby James is in a happy and safe environment. Glennon explained:

“I need to do what’s right for James and I need to take the right steps for myself. The future’s unknown. All I know is what I need to do, like, right now and that is to provide James with a safe, secure happy environment.”

Apparently, that safe, secure environment is not in the hands of his mother — as Glennon is seeking full custody and child support after his baby momma was charged with three felonies from the domestic violence arrest on July 5.

Recalling that violent incident at their Indiana home earlier this month, Andrew remembered he was “real shook” after Amber attacked him, adding:

“If you could imagine having your whole world and everything that you love flipped upside down in a heartbeat, that’s it.”

We can only imagine…

Glennon also had a no-contact order granted in the wake of the incident. While Portwood’s no-contact order with James was recently lifted by a Marion County judge, her no-contact order with Glennon reportedly remains in place.

As he gears up for a dramatic custody battle, Glennon is also trying to be the best father he can be; he stressed that “babies imprint at a young age” and it’s important to “put happy memories into [James].”

And although he hasn’t dismissed the idea of getting back with the MTV star, Glennon says it will take a long time to get to that point — if ever:

“There’s gonna be a lot of healing that needs to be done and repairing between James and I. As far as relationships go in the future … a lot of healing has to be done for everybody.”

That goes for Amber, too.

As we reported, the reality star posted-and-deleted a cryptic message alluding to cheating. Her baby daddy, however, insists he was faithful — and suggests that Amber was perhaps talking about something else.

He mused:

“My name was never mentioned in the post that she released … I guess it was just rough timing… People are just going to slap it on me. It’s a bashing of my character and what hurts I guess is the fact that she hasn’t come out and made a statement to say, you know, I wasn’t talking about Andrew, I was talking about somebody else.”

Uh… who else would she be talking about though!?

Sounds like there’s a lot going on here. Even if the couple can’t save their relationship, we hope they can get to the place where they can civilly and safely co-parent their child.
