Amber Portwood‘s ex is getting really real about her recent legal troubles!
On Friday, Gary Shirley publicly commented on the Teen Mom OG star’s brush with the law back in Indiana, taking to Twitter and surprisingly coming across warm and empathetic during the whole controversial, highly-charged situation.

Tweeting to his followers about the assault arrest in question, Shirley wrote (below):
“My prayers are with @AmberLPortwood, Andrew, & most importantly baby James. Idk any of the particulars, however I’m thinking of them. And for all the questions and concerns Leah was/is currently camping with her best friend.”

Very mature and magnanimous, considering how tense the relationship has been between Gary and Amber at times in the past — as documented repeatedly by the reality TV show itself.
As for the arrest, just as we reported at the time when it occurred, police in Indianapolis were reportedly dispatched to a house after receiving a disturbance call, and upon arrival spoke to a male victim — Andrew Glennon — who claimed that he and his live-in girlfriend (Amber) had gotten into a disagreement. He also alleged that Amber had apparently struck him and assaulted him while he was holding the couple’s one-year old child.
Police also spoke to Amber at the scene of the disturbance, and after getting both sides of the story, they determined the right move here was to arrest her for assault based on the events of the day. She was booked into jail in Indianapolis later on Friday; her team has not yet publicly reached out at any point with comment or reaction from the arrest.

Obviously, Amber has quite the history with her temper, often with the reality TV itself quick to show her short fuse during arguments with her children’s fathers, so this may be nothing new in that realm. Still, it’s sad to see that there was apparently a physical assault taking place while one of the parties in question was holding the couple’s young daughter. Not great!!!
We’ll continue to update you as more information becomes available here, particularly if Amber herself reaches out publicly to react to the news, or otherwise comments on what’s been going on in Indiana this week. Such an unsettling situation, but hopefully cooler heads will prevail and things will quickly get better for all parties involved here — ESPECIALLY the children.
