Amy Schumer has been accused of stealing material once before, but not by several comics at once — and never a joke so on the nose as this one.
In her HBO comedy special last year, Amy joked:
“I’m old school, I like it when a man pays on the first date, for sex.”
Classic Schumer, right?

Unfortunately, it was awfully similar to comic Wendy Liebman‘s joke she’s been doing for over 20 years:
“I’m old fashioned, I like it when a man pays… for sex.”
On Monday Liebman wrote on Twitter:
“Between Amy Schumer doing 1 of my best jokes on her HBO special and this meme of my joke, I’m done with social media.”
(Someone had apparently turned another of Liebman’s jokes into a viral cartoon without crediting her.)
Other comics began discussing it, including Kathleen Madigan, who reportedly wrote that she had evidence of “a disgusting amount of stealing.”
A lot of that “evidence” can be found in a viral video HERE!
After the hubbub went viral, Wendy deleted her earlier tweet and clarified:
I never said @amyschumer stole my joke.I just said it was the same. It’s possible we both wrote it.I just wanted you to know I wrote it 1st.

So basically she hit it first? LOLz!

And later she got even more forgiving…
I think both @amyschumer and I like it when a man pays…for sex. #greatminds #parallelthinking https://t.co/zWQKo4Kj5F

So what does Amy say to the controversy? She got deadly serious, writing:
On my life, I have never and would never steal a joke.
