Oh jeeeeze.
It seems some of One Direction‘s SUPER enthusiastic fans did NOT like it when Bravo head Andy Cohen affectionately referred to the members of 1D as “Twinks.”
Earlier this week, 1D performed a few of their hits on the Today show, garnering the largest concert crowd the morning series had EVER seen…
And after their musical spectacle, it seems Mr. Cohen ran into the cheeky chums in the Today show green room and was SO impressed by what he saw, that he immediately tweeted:

Andy also referred to the boys as “Twinks” during his appearance on the Today show that same morning.
“Twink” is a contentious word and is sometimes seen as a derogatory definition referring to a certain “type” of homosexual… thus Andy experienced crazy Twitter backlash concerning his comment.
Of course, always the gentleman, Andy semi sorta apologized by tweeting:

Yes, those boys are the cutest! And are even STEAMIER with their shirts off, so no wonder Andy was at a loss for the appropriate wordage!
Ah well, we’re glad it’s all been sorted now and that 1D fans can get back to obsessing over their fantasy boy crushes uninterrupted.
