This would be more impressive if it were a human art contest but that’s not the case.
The Humane Society hosted an art contest for apes, judged by THE Dr. Jane Goodall, and the winning champ chimp who won 1st place was named Brent.
And guess what?? He paints with his TONGUE!!
His unique art work won over the majority of the 27,000 people who voted online to help pick a winner.
The 37-year-old chimp, who lives at Chimp Haven in Kentvilla, Louisiana, won his sanctuary a $10,000 first prize!!
That’s ahmayzing!! The Humane Society said:
“His unique approach and style, while a little unorthodox, results in beautiful pieces of art.”
Painting is so great for these animals because they’re part of enrichment.
They enhance the lives of the primates who are rescued from labs or from the entertainment industry or even from people keeping them as pets – so these apes get a chance at a better life and then get to auction off their paintings on eBay.
Hopefully the paintings sell for big money and bring even more cash into their sanctuaries!
Congrats on winning 1st prize, Brent.
