Well, that didn’t take long. Ariana Grande‘s new boyfriend delivered the killing blow to his marriage on Wednesday.
According to a report from TMZ, Ethan Slater filed for divorce from Lilly Jay, his high school sweetheart, wife of four years — and, as of last August, the mother of his child — in New York City. The outlet notes they didn’t see the paperwork and therefore do not yet know the reason listed for the split. We’re going to go ahead and guess “irreconcilable differences” since cheaters don’t typically reference their own adultery in filings. What?! Just sayin’…

More importantly we don’t yet know the date he chose to list their separation — something we’ll have to keep a really close eye on. See, the first wave of sources claimed he was already single when he and Ari got together on the set of Wicked — something that has not held up to much scrutiny (and fans never bought to begin with).
TMZ did say they learned the SpongeBob Squarepants Musical star is filing so quickly after news broke — remember he allegedly only told Lilly he wanted to end the marriage a few days ago — because he wants a “clean slate” upon which to build his relationship with Ariana.
Yeah, too late, guy.
