Ariana Grande Goes Ballistic On Twitter Over Cultural Appropriation Backlash!

That Japanese tattoo may have hurt Ariana Grande like hell, but the backlash she’s been getting from it is apparently unbearable.
The pop star went ballistic on Twitter over the weekend in response to the critics accusing her of cultural appropriation for her use of Japanese Kanji letters on her merch, in her music videos, and (incorrectly) on her skin.

Ari defended herself in the string of since-deleted tweets, saying that she likes to write — and sell things — in Japanese because it makes her Japanese fans happy. Japanese culture is also something that brings her joy (she “legit wanted to move there”!), which according to the 25-year-old, means it’s appreciation and not appropriation.
But critics weren’t falling for the songstress’ guilt trip. Many felt she was playing the victim after “commodifying non-whiteness” when she really should have just apologized for it and moved on.
Who do you think is being more sensitive here: Ari or her critics? Or both!?
