Who knew sweet pop darling Ariana Grande would EVER be caught in a scandal??!
The petite starlet with the crazy pipes — along with her crew at Sony/ATV and UMG Recordings— has been slammed with a lawsuit for copyright infringement over The Way!
Minder Music is claiming that the mega-hit stole the line, “What we gotta do right here is go back, back into time,” from The Jimmy Castor Bunch‘s 1972 song Troglodyte.
Never heard of it? Us either.
While the band of yesteryear’s line actually goes, “What we├óΓé¼Γäóre gonna do right here is go back, way back, back into time,├óΓé¼┬¥ lawyers are still insisting that they are “substantially similar” in not only words, but enunciation, and placement in the composition.
So how does Minder want to be compensated by the alleged copy cat situation??!
The label is asking for $150,000 PLUS legal fees.

The phrases are indeed similar, but can ONE line really merit copyright protection?!
